Former RCCG pastor berates Adeboye for welcoming politicians in to their annual Holy Ghost congress

A former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Bankole Solomon, has criticized the General Overseer of the church, Pastor E A Adeboye, for allowing politicians i.e President Jonathan, into their annual RCCG Holy Ghost congress and turning it into a political congress.

According to a statement released by Bankole who said he left the church as pastor in 2010 but still worships there, the church programme has now turned to a 'supermarket where charlatans and political opportunists come shopping. He questioned why President Jonathan should be allowed to stand on their 'Once sacred alter' and speak deceitfully and indirectly campaign for 2015 during a spiritual gathering

Read Bankole Solomon's full statement after the cut...

"I know this post will attract a sharp condemnation because I worship in RCCG and I was once a pastor before I resigned voluntarily because of rights violations in the name of religion. I resigned in December 2010 but I am still worshiping there as an ordinary member. So, whatever I have here is without prejudice.

"Holy ghost congress of our great church is now a political congress where all shades of corrupt leaders will mount our altar to fool Nigerians on what they will do.

"Holy Ghost congress is now a supermarket where all kinds of people like charlatans and political opportunist come shopping turning God to father Christmas to give them end of the year bonus.
"Jonathan was even there turning our once sacred altar to political podium talking deceitfully and indirectly campaigning for 2015. My question is this? On what ground was president Jonathan allowed to speak to people. Is he a pastor? Because the gathering is purely a spiritual gathering and event.

"I've been a pastor in Redeemed for the past 10 years and I've not got any opportunity to sit on dat altar not to talk of holding mic. If because Jonathan is a President and he is recognized, it means some are more equal than others.

"Immediately I left camp on Saturday morning, I looked at the camp very well because I know that would be the last time I will set my foot to that Eagle Square called Redeemed camp."

The first thing people who are too lazy to read their bibles say when discussing 'Men of God' is: " Remember ' touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm'.Dont curse yourselves." I wish such people will READ their bibles and understand this statement in contex. For those who care to know please see this brilliant exposition: http://www.letusreason.org/Pent47.htm

You have said it all Pastor Bankole. Am glad some people are beginning to see the light.
i do not care if anyone criticizes my comment but truth be told. when the likes of Jonathan and other thieving politicians have committed crimes and done all sort of displeasing things, they run to the church and most annoyingly, they are giving front pews to sit and call upon the name of the lord in vain.
its high time people wake up from their slumber and see the truth and the light. pastors, reverends should stop glorifying these people weather for the sake of them being leaders or whatever.
after stealing, doing rituals, they run to church and give a huge offering of blood money and pastors in return honour these people. shame!
my neigbour attends a church, he was never recognized inn the church, until he became rich(got a good job in an oil company) all of a sudden cos of the kind of cars he drives now and has money to throw around, they have given him a front seat in church. weather he comes to church or not, that seat is reserved. what the hell? a lot of pastors (not calling any name in particular)worship material things, money, private jets and all.
Remember the bible say what does it profilt a man if he gains the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul.
am outta here!

Frankly speaking pastor adeboye made a very big mistake simply b'cos he is a man of God does not mean that he is beyond criticism, dis politicians are liars, they are ungodly men, ppl that are not being truthful to their word coming to stand in front of d alter is a very big mistake, don't mind all dis pastors they have no regards for their subjects they look @ big names ppl that can buy private jet for them, little wonder most them have private jet something more than a billion naira, did u see it recorded in d bible that jesus bought expensive things rather he advise his follower to keep their eyes simple, Anyway jesus christ has said it that judgement will start from his father's house.

When you the ex-pastoir observe anything at all what did you supposed to do? You came on air and beggins to criticise. As for me this what make them to chase you out as Redeem pastor(Solomon). Go and appologise for saying this on air.

Ma da lohun. If u like no go camp, na ur prob, not mine, not Adeboye's and not God's. Ur loss..GEJ is d president, no matter wat u accord ur leaders respect. Adeboye didn't giv him d mic to campaign just to address d people. If Obama was in church wouldn't u like a word from him. Goodluck can campaign all he wants but God decides wat happens in 2013 not to talk of 2015. This man who is no longer a pastor but just a member should go back and seek the face of God who called him to be a pastor in d 1st place.

if people like this Bankole guy were around in Jesus' time and saw Him dine with prostitutes, tax collectors, pharisees, they would have condemned Jesus too and said all sorts! He would have joined in the crucifiction sef..Amazing that God calls u to be a pastor and u resign and say u no do again cos of ds n dt..one wonders if God actually called this guy to Pastoral service sef... O ga gaaaaaan!!! ..don diddy!

After Jesus dinned with Sinners, they repented. Lets see Jonathan's repentance.
What would Jesus say to Adeboye........Sell off all the material acquisitions/wealth including private jets and use ALL the proceeds for the poor. Can tht happen...Oloshi

Ex-pastor Bankole Solomon, seek the face of God for restoration. As u resign from serving God and winnings souls what next? are you from the lineage from lot? Don't judge so that you will not b judge. If you are bitter because you were not promoted remember that God does not owe anyone. So if i come to you to complain that my husband has not acknowledged all that i have done for him for the ten years, you will advice me to quit. You are very bitter, please address that bitters.

They are workers who have toiled unnoticed yet they are not complaining because God is blessing them.

My dear ex-pastor, how is your home? how is your relationship with God? your bitterness is glaring for all to see. I know you are seeking for attention from 'MEN' but you dont need that.

God owes nobody because He is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM.

PRAY FOR GOD'S RESTORATION BECAUSE THE HARVEST IS RIPE BUT THE LABOURERS ARE FEW.

Now these men are mocking God yetb to tell me u see vision while u dine with the evil men...

Even the sunday the Madala bomb blast went off last year,GEJ was in church..am sure most of us remember. He gave a Speech!!! The only time he won't say anything in a spiritual gathering is IF he doesn't want to talk but if he wants to...y not? Tha podium isn't 4 saints alone..we get there 2 give testimonies too!we can't condemn the Man of God for letting the president talk..last year, it was not Adeboye,it was in an Orthodox church so let's not base on RCCG...am not a member tho but we shld not be biased.this pastor is bitter(truth be told)..there are other pastors still in RCCG,y is it just him who has a problem?? Let's be mindful what we say..nobody is perfect

Jonathan did same to fool religious leaders freaked nigerians in the last election. I guess this is a strategy for winning election now right? Pastor Adeboye is an icon in the christian world, this should not be coming from him at all. We expect more from him than this. Anyways only God can judge, He alone knows what we know not.

Not just you o.... Me too. I've had this on my mind since early this year when Jona removed subsidy, and made life unbearable for millions of people.

Jona never says Amen when he's being prayed for. He's always doing one thing or another when the message is on.

In January dis year, I made up my mind to pick up my Bible and leave any christian gathering where Naija politicians are given so much recognition, even with their evil deeds.

For those insulting Bankole, do you realise that there is actually a scripture in the Bible that clearly states that seats should NOT be reserved in the gathering of the saints? It states, that NONE should be given preferential treatment. *I wish the exact place I saw this will come to my mind now*

The Church is adding to the problems of Nigeria. These crooks called politicians still have a lil respect for the big Pastors.... Why can't they impart on their lives? I rest my case.

going there to worship isn't a big deal, but going on that podium to make political promises and campaign to me its a No! Those who criticize Mr bankole shld just approach this issue wth d fear of God. And not wth d fear of daddy G.O,well said mr bankole.

A lot of you are missing the point of this Pastor.... Although I do no quite agree with some of the things he said (like him climbing d pulpit and holding mic for example) *vain glory seeking tinz*, HE IS NOT SAYING GEJ SHOULD NOT COME!!! He is saying GEJ and OTHER POLITICIANS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TURN GODS HOUSE TO A CAMPAIGN GROUND!!!! #Simple!!!

since you feel that way, you made the right decision not to ever go back there. as for GEJ speaking and you comparing yourself to him, puleeeeeez. he's the President of Nigeria whether u like him or not, u cannot be compared to him especially at a public event. he is the President, there's only 1 President at a time, meanwhile there are millions of former Pastors like u, u were obviously not to be reckoned with even within the Redeemed Church, not to talk of Lagos State or Nigeria. so dont go back there if u feel so strongly about them giving our President recognition, while a nonentity like u never got the same recognition. comparing yourself to the President, u for contest for President in 2015 and make we see whether e easy to be the President. failed Pastor making failed comments, abeg I dey vex for this guy joh

OH PLEASE!!! Shift!!!
It will do all you religious bigots a lot of good, to ACTUALLY read your Bibles.

James 2:1-13
New International Version (NIV)
Favoritism Forbidden
My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious
Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.
2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing
a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in
filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show
special attention to the man wearing fine clothes
and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the
poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by
my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among
yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not
God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the
world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom
he promised those who love him? 6 But you have
dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are
exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are
dragging you into court? 7 Are they not the ones
who are blaspheming the noble name of him to
whom you belong?

IT IS THERE IN YOUR BIBLE.... READ IT!!!!

Being in God's presence is not the same as standing in front of men. If GEJ went for worship, he should sit like every other person. We recognize his position as humans, but to stand in front of God we are all equal. Even if Obama steps into the place, the best he should do is to sit and listen. All these happenings are fulfilment of Bible Propecies- when Christendom will form close alliances with political powersand act like harlots. They (politicians) will soon turn their backs against all these attention/ fame loving pastors!

Anonymous said...

It is only in Christendom that such things happen. Altho I'm not a muslim, I'm yet to see IBB or Abdulsalam or their clique hold a mic at the mosque. The best they can get is the front row. It is the cleric that will still do the preaching, no matter who is present.

Anonymous said...

Give honour to whom honour is due...yeah, that's the only excuse I can gove to have him on the podium. And you can never be sure he is lying...sometimes, we have to give our leaders a benefit of doubt. Ifg because of that, you leave your spiritual home, then whatever happens to you out there, you are to blame for it.

Anonymous said...

Question...if Bankoles thoughts and intent was totally genuine, trust me there are other ways of within RCCG that we can route his compliant /communicating his displeasure, rather than going public?...Zee black

i think Bankole has a personal issues with Pst Adeboye. he is speaking from a very personal point of view. Study his ending statements carefully. Nigerians are very good at criticizing and condemnation. Jonathan is very free to attend the Congress. As the no 1 citizen of this country, nothing is wrong with recognizing his presence.

Anonymous said...

If you read your bible well enough, u will know that u give respect to those who deserves it (including leaders). Either he is a bad person or not he ought to be treated with respect bcos he is a leader
And besides I'm sure if it was to be Obama there won't be any complains. You Nigerians need to get in the habit of honoring your leaders

A nation that does not respect it's leaders is doomed. Good or bad, bible says God installs them all. He is all knowing. Can President Obama visit any church in America and not be called up to the podium? You guys are just too dogmatic, parochial and backward for progress' liking. If Bankole had not ministered on Pastor Adeboye's podium in ten years, that's because he did not earn it. He is not the only pastor who hasn't. RCCG has thousands of Pastors who has not come this close to the altar. Like someone rightly said, Bankole is being eaten up by bitterness. He is more of a politician and an Eagle square candidate than President Jonathan. First he left RCCG because of rights violation and now this. Who fights for rights violation, if not a politician. Let all you who read and make unguarded vitriolics beware. God is no respecter of anybody. Ignorance is not an excuse for stupidity.

As far as I ma concerned, Nigerian pastors are looking out for their own selfish interest. Jonathan is free to come to nay church but he is not free to use the house pf God for indirect campaigns. If he wants to address the nation, let him do so from Aso Rock!!mscheeeeew!! Wat is with all dis public display of kneeling down and getting blessings from Adeboye who is also indirectly endorsing the man? God will judge all these pastors!!

I have read a lot of posts and I bet we all should be realistic, I can't say pastor bankole is right,I don't believe he knows it all anyway n dt is if the post is just what he has given to Linda verbatim n believe me d one dt posts dis in d first place is just seeking to be known.
I also want to advice all dt we be careful d way we address issues dt has to do with men of God and leaders.
Saul was rejected by God n yet David feared to do anything to harm him or retaliate his evil did against him.
Samuel served under Eli even though d man had long severed d relationship between him and God.
Kings are made by God
Prophets and Pastors work in d name of God and whatever dey do is between dem n d ONE dt crowns dem or ordained dem as d case may be. Wen u re not sure, very sure and double sure of what to say. Just like an adage dt says wen u re not familiar with a road in d broad daylight, u can't be so good at following d paths wen it is dark.
I advice we all should bury our machete n address d issue concerning is as a nation, which is our future.
I can not n will never condemn pastor Adeboye, it is between him n He who has called him, I will not castigate pastor bankole even if he has resigned as a pastor, I still believe dt he is anointed n if not still in tune with God, God had once ordained him. President Jonathan has only being honoured, and another thing dt makes our altar sacred is not even what we build der, d main altar is our life, our hearts, Wat we think, little wonder Jess said it is Wat proceeds out of our hearts dt makes who we are.
This platform is not for me to sermonise anyone rather to let us be careful n leave all in God's hands. He is d perfect ONE.
God bless you all
