Woman electrocuted after high tension wires fell on her shop

23 year old Blessing Eyo Okon (pictured above) was electrocuted on Friday afternoon May 25th at Mount Zion Rd, Calabar, after a PHCN cable cut and fell at the corridor of her hair dressing salon.

The wires above Blessing's shop fell as a result of heavy rain; unfortunately her floor was wet and she was bare foot. Not only did the electric shock kill Blessing, the sad incident also set her shop on fire, destroying the property. Blessing's body has been deposited at the Calabar General Hospital Mortuary. RIP lady. So unfortunate and sad!

what a waste of this very beautiful ladys life.may her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her blood just like every other innocent blood that has been wasted on the altar of the negligience and backwardness of this country nigeria, light up their understanding and give the country the wisdom to rule its people aright in jesus name.amen.

This was an "act of God" and that's going to be the defence which will likely succeed. They had better not start any legal battle, there's no evidence that the cable was loose as a result of negligence on the part of PHCN and then the rain caused it to fall and electrocute her. May her soul rest in perfect peace. 23 is just too young to die. May God protect us and our loved ones.

When y'all see 'abnormal' or 'falling' electric poles, please report to the concerned. Some people take these pics and send it to Punch. Act now.

HONESTLY, I THINK WE SHOULD LEAVE THE PHASE OF THE ELECTRIC POLES HOVERING AROUND. ITS REALLY TERRIBLE. WHAT'S WRONG WITH DEVELOPING UNDERGROUNG CABLES AND FUSES OR MUST WE WAIT TILL THE SAME THING KILLS A SENATOR BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT IT???

It's about time government agencies should be responsible for the negligence and the consequences therefrom. The family of this young lady should not let her death go in vain. They have every legal right to bring a cause of action against PHCN. The laws are and if you dont bring a cause of action against the government they will never do the right thing. There's no escuse for this preventable death to occur. Actually, the family can sue the Feds in conjustion with Cross River State government. I pray that God will give her family the strength to get through this and may her soul rest in peace.

So sad because no one will sue nepa for damages and lost of life.

PHCN have been successfully sued on such case in the past. It is the reluctance of Nigerians to enforce their rights I. Court that embolden some crooks to cheat. They know you will "Leave am for God to judge" please sue them, it will save others in the future
