I personally don't like d name Moshood (am not hating, I don't just feel it) but dt does not mean d school can't be named after Abiola, d guy sacrificed his life for us to be where we are today. If we have 50,000 votes, the constitution says the people can object to a new law or policy by signing a referendum. we started and got 63 votes in less than an hour!!! for us it not not about name change. There's no Moshood Abiola uni. There's Moshood Abiola polytechnic in Abeokuta. To me, Unilag will always be Unilag sha. Everybody will get used to the new name with time.

When I enrolled @ Georgia State University in Atlanta, I remember how much pride I had when the Admissions officer easily recognized the name of my school and how she sang praises of our students that have gone through GSU. It only pains me that the ashewos and yahoo yahoo boys are giving the school a bad rap. Back to my issue of name change; the problem with Jonathan is that he does not appreciate institutions, Unilag is a legacy, it is a place of pride for those who manage to get in. It is as tough as getting into an Ivy League school here in the States for those who wish to go to Unilag. Not that I want to compare Uniag to Harvard, but by our standard which one can argue may be no standard at all, Unilag is our Harvard, and I don't know that Harvard will change their name to Barrack Hussein Obama University just because they produced the first black president in America. By the way I thought it is only the house of assembly that has the power to change names of federal institutions. Unilag has produced very big and notable lawyers, this is the time to sue the shit out off the President's ass. i am presently a consultant with Deloitte UK and the only thing i presented as certificate to get the job was my Bsc. finance degree from the university of Lagos and my work experience in Nigeria as a banker and most of all, God's grace. i do not have any other qualification from anywhere else apart from unilag (and the grace of almighty God)and i am where i am today a - consultant with delliote UK.my certificate was never questioned! what do u think would have happened if it were moshood abiola university certificate..let me add that i know of someone who brought another certifcate from another school from nigeria who's certificate was scrutinized and eventualy denied the job.
The university of Lagos is not just a school, its an international brand,a revered institution.you do not mess with an international brand that has taken years to build.
