Where is Naija's version of 'We are the World'?

I don't know what Jay Z is talking about, I love the new version of 'We are the World' by All Stars for Haiti. The old version is def better but kudos for the effort. God bless them!

Now coming to Naija, when will our Stars come together to do something similar? There are a number of communal/religious crisis in our motherland; a lot of problems that need to be addressed.

I'd like to see the new school and the old school coming together to lend their voice to such a commendable cause. People look up to them, maybe they will make a difference?

Thoughts?

The new verson is absolutely horrid, I don't know whats worse . . . wyclefs howling like a sheep and the Godawful autotune. ick

There is a youtube verson if you want to hear something worth listening to.

Anonymous number 2, THANK YOU! That new version has to be for charity cos noon would buy it without the good cause attached to it... There are too many things wrong with it... What the hell were those rats Cyrus and Bieber doing on a classic? Why were Lil Wayne and T-Pain involved? IN SINGING??? What was that awkward rap doing in the middle of the song??? The whole thing was ridiculous. I love u Linda, but I have to disagree.

I guess the problem with having a Naija version would be the question of ensuring that the proceeds from sales get to the people the money is being raised for. Aside the fact that no one buys naija albums thanks to free downloads and pirates, striking a deal with marketers would take so much out of the profit, there might be little left to give to charity. I guess a concert would be a more viable option but u know everyone will want their own share of the cake... U think D'Banj will perform for free even if they are giving the money to an orphanage???

they should have just written a new song, for this generation, no need to tamper with a classic. If it truly was for haiti they should have written a song specially for the haiti relief.

@lahlah, the song was not originally for Haiti. they were going to do the song the next week anyway . The Haiti tragedy gave em a reason to look good while destroying a classic!!
cos i'm going to bet that many of the artistes in the song don't even know where Haiti is on the map. you can check out my post on the song with the video at

@ everyone if there was a naija version what would it be called emm?

1. we be naija boys and girls?
2. we are west africa?
3. àwa ni ômô ayé ?

i'm a fan of everything naija but pls lets find something else to collabo on -maga no need pay- was very good !! http://gistvillage.com/boma/2010/02/06/maga-no-need-pay/

Why is everyone singing We Are the World? Even musicians on Youtube did their own version. It is getting rather annoying! What happened to creativity?? It's for a good cause, we know but it is very unoriginal. Don't get me started on the Autotune and the rap.

The diffrence is that there are doing it for causes happened beyond human reach - our problems here are mostly man made... Our artistes from Fela, to the likes of 2face, psquare, african china and many others have sung about our problems of curruption, leadership and poverty, yet no one listens... It'll pretty much be a waste of time if there were to collaborate for a cause as this because frankly we haven't got one!
